Advanced Sewing Series – Choose Your Own Stuffy

Take your stuffed-animal sewing skills further by creating a stuffy you choose. In this hands-on class, you'll select a stuffed-animal pattern from the Borealis Babes collection or bring a pattern you'd love to make, and we'll work through the project together from beginning to end.

You'll learn how to read and prepare your pattern, trace and cut your pieces, understand markings and construction order, sew darts, match pattern pieces, work around curves and smaller details, attach safety eyes and other features when applicable, stuff and shape your finished animal, and hand-sew the final opening closed.

Because every stuffed animal is different, this is a more involved class than our beginner teddy bear class. Some patterns have many pieces, unusual shapes, small details, or more complicated construction, so we'll take our time and work through your individual project step by step.

You choose your stuffy. Pick one you've seen at the Borealis Babes booth, choose from our available patterns, or bring a pattern you'd like to learn. If you're bringing your own pattern, we'll review it together beforehand to make sure it's a good fit for the class.

Everything is provided. Fabric, thread, stuffing, safety eyes or other basic notions, pattern materials, tools, sewing machines, and class supplies are included.

Class size is intentionally kept small so every student receives plenty of individual guidance throughout this more detailed project.

Previous sewing-machine experience is recommended.
